Spring is a mechanical component that uses elasticity to work. A part made of elastic material can change its shape under the action of external force, but if there is no external force, it will return to its original shape, so it cannot be said that it is pressed into a fixed state by external force. There are many types of springs, including compression springs, Tension springs, torsion springs, tower springs, special-shaped springs, linear springs, etc. However, many manufacturers often have some phenomena when processing springs, that is, springs are prone to breakage.
Why does this phenomenon occur during spring processing and what causes it?
(1) Material: Spring materials include many impurities that cause brittle fracture. Therefore, if the elasticity and fatigue resistance requirements of the spring are high, we generally recommend using high-quality materials.
(2) Spring design: Torsion springs, tension springs, special-shaped springs and other springs will have corners. When the corner is too sharp or too short, the spring pressure or elastic force exceeds the load-bearing capacity of the spring itself, and it is easy to break.
(3) Production: When making springs, pay attention to the knife on the spring machine to scratch or cut the springs. When we see serious scratches or cuts on the spring, the breakage ratio of this spring will be greatly increased.
(4) Heat treatment: The spring is heat treated to make it more elastic and have better reset effect, but the heat treatment temperature should not exceed the load-bearing capacity of the spring steel wire itself. (Generally, it is best not to exceed 300 degrees.) If the temperature is too high, the spring wire will become brittle and easily broken. At the same time, the number of heat treatments for a spring should not exceed 2 times.
